The sound of bouncing basketballs, determined athletes, and cheering supporters echoed across the courts as the Hi 5 – Parivaar Basketball Cup 2026 brought together young basketball talent from across West Bengal. At Hi 5 Youth Foundation, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover their potential through sport. This four-day tournament reflected that belief by providing young athletes with a platform to compete.
Organized by Hi 5 Youth Foundation in association with Parivaar, the Hi 5 – Parivaar Basketball Cup 2026 served as a premier club basketball tournament for Under-18 boys’ and girls’ teams across West Bengal.
The competition was conducted in a league-cum-knockout format, with teams competing in group-stage matches followed by knockout rounds. All matches were played in accordance with the latest Basketball Federation of India (BFI) rules and were officiated by certified referees from the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), ensuring fair play, professionalism, and a competitive playing environment that reflected the standards of organized basketball.
The tournament featured 12 teams representing districts and renowned basketball clubs from across West Bengal. Their participation created a competitive platform where young athletes could test themselves against strong opposition while gaining valuable match experience and exposure.

For many participants, tournaments like these are an important step in their sporting journey. Every game presented an opportunity to build confidence, make decisions under pressure, adapt to different challenges, and learn from every experience.
Throughout the tournament, athletes were encouraged to understand the “why” behind every result – celebrating victories while learning from setbacks. This approach helps young players recognize their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and continue progressing both as athletes and as individuals.
Beyond the competition, the tournament also created valuable opportunities for visibility within the basketball ecosystem. Young players had the chance to showcase their abilities before coaches, mentors, and other key stakeholders, opening pathways for future development and competitive opportunities.
The championship reflected the strength of the partnership between Hi 5 Youth Foundation and Parivaar, demonstrating how collaboration can create meaningful opportunities for children and strengthen grassroots basketball development in the region.

I am the father of Devanshi Das, who plays basketball for Rakhi Sangha Club. I have seen her grow through the sport, and basketball has brought a positive change in her life. It has instilled a sense of discipline and commitment in her. She willingly does things for the game that she might not otherwise do in her everyday life. It makes me very happy to see how sports is shaping her personality and bringing positive changes to her day-to-day life. From what I have observed, the Hi 5 Project is doing remarkable work at the grassroots level by identifying and nurturing real talent in remote and underserved areas, including places on the outskirts of Kolkata. The enthusiasm and passion among the children are truly inspiring. Watching the Parivaar children support one another and celebrate their team’s victories match after match creates a wonderful atmosphere. I feel I get a very good vibe when I see Parivar’s other children supporting their team, winning match after match. It’s, it, it feels really good.

I’m coaching Rakhi Sangha team, as well as the West Bengal basketball team. I have also previously coached Calcutta University. My experience with Hi 5 has been wonderful. I was especially impressed by the discipline, manners, and helpful nature of the children. They are well-trained, good listeners, and conduct themselves with great respect, both on and off the court. Basketball is more than just a sport—it teaches discipline, resilience, and the ability to bounce back from challenges. These are invaluable life lessons that children learn through the game. I have known about Hi 5 for several years and have seen its players perform exceptionally well at the state and national levels. What stands out is Hi 5’s focus on the overall development of every child. By creating opportunities for team building, shared experiences, and holistic growth, Hi 5 is helping young athletes become confident individuals both in sports and in life.
