For many students, learning English is not just about learning a new language. It is about finding the confidence to express themselves, share their thoughts, and communicate with the world around them. They are eager to learn, but opportunities to practise speaking English are often limited.

At Hi 5 Youth Foundation, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn and express themselves without hesitation. Through our free online and offline English Communication Classes, we aim to make learning accessible, engaging, and relevant to students’ everyday lives.

Our continuous online classes allow students to learn from the comfort of their homes, making it easier for them to participate regularly. Alongside these sessions, we organise offline classes at our centers, where teachers from Mumbai spend time with students and create opportunities for face-to-face learning and interaction.

At the beginning of this academic year, our Hi 5 English Tutor Ms. Geneieve Patel conducted offline English Communication Classes for students at Spoorthi.76 students from Grade 5 to Grade 8 students were part of the 15 day program . She stayed with the students for two weeks, conducting interactive English sessions and encouraging them to practise speaking in a supportive environment.

Similarly in a separate 21-day program, run at Parivaar Center, Kolkata the sessions were conducted by our Hi 5 English Tutor Ms.Pramila Jadhav  to students from Grade 5 to college level with 194 students who were enrolled. Despite their already busy schedules, students made time to attend both morning and evening sessions, demonstrating their eagerness to learn. The staff and students at Parivaar welcomed this initiative, and the response was encouraging. By the end of the three weeks, the students were keen to continue learning and requested Pramila to stay on for another month.

One of the most important aspects of these classes is that learning happens without the pressure of marks or examinations. Students are encouraged to speak, make mistakes, ask questions, and express themselves freely. This helps them gradually overcome their hesitation and see English not simply as a subject to be studied, but as a language they can use in their daily lives. The students’ request for more classes reflects something important: when given the opportunity and a supportive environment, their desire to learn grows. These sessions may be only the beginning, but they help spark curiosity, build confidence, and plant the seeds for further learning.
