Our founders’ visit to Parivaar Ashram in Kolkata left them highly impressed with the enthuthiasm and values of the kids. It was a no brainer to start our first centre outside Mumbai with such lovely kids and the right partner. Children come to this institution in Grade 1 and stay on in the residential school until Grade 12. Most children come from many interior parts of tribal villages in West Bengal, neighboring state of Jharkhand and from the streets of Kolkata who are deprived of basic education and needs.
Parivaar is West Bengal’s largest free residential educational institution for children from highly impoverished backgrounds. As of August ’18 it had more than 2100 resident children in its two campuses Parivaar Vivekananda Sevashrama for Boys and Parivaar Sarada Teertha for Girls. These are the two campuses where we run our program for boys & girls.
Through our Basketball program we are trying to give an opportunity to these kids to excel in a sport and learn a valuable lesson that if they put their heart and soul in doing something then they can achieve it.
Hi 5 is training 183 children in Paarivar, Kolkata and 2100 children overall including Mumbai and Hyderabad. It is one of the largest grassroots basketball program for the underprivileged completely FREE!
